Why Bad Muskau?

This small spa town in Upper Lusatia is inseparably linked with Hermann von Pückler-Muskau. From 1815 the eccentric prince and travel writer created an extensive landscape park in the English style on both banks of the Neisse. Since 1945 the German–Polish border has run right through the park, which today is cared for jointly by both countries. In 2004 Muskauer Park / Park Mużakowski was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a transboundary site. Pückler's ideas had a lasting influence on landscape gardening in Germany and beyond.

  • New Castle
    The rebuilt castle at the heart of the park houses an exhibition on the life and work of Prince Pückler (admission fee).
  • Old Castle
    The former residential and service building with views of ponds and the vistas that Pückler deliberately staged.
  • Blue Garden and Castle Lake
    Designed garden areas near the castle that clearly illustrate Pückler's principle of 'garden pictures'.
  • English Bridge over the Neisse
    The bridge links the German and Polish parts of the park – a walk across the border in the middle of a World Heritage Site.
  • Polish part of the park (Park Mużakowski)
    Wide meadows, groups of trees and viewpoints on the eastern bank of the Neisse, which makes up the larger part of the park.
  • Mountain Park (Bergpark)
    Hilly section west of the old town with woodland, paths and views over the Neisse valley.
  • Optional: Bad Muskau town centre
    A short walk through the small centre of Bad Muskau with time for a break.

No free cancellation: up to 30 days before 30 %, 29–15 days 50 %, 14–7 days 75 %, 6–1 days and no-show 100 %. Changes of date are also subject to a fee.

  • A fee is charged for changes to bookings.

  • Tours ending after 19:00 are subject to a 50% surcharge on the guiding fee.
