Why Naumburg?
Naumburg has been a bishop's seat since 1028, when the diocese was moved here from Zeitz. Naumburg Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2018. Its twelve founder figures in the west choir, created in the 13th century by the workshop of the Naumburg Master, are world-famous – above all Uta of Naumburg. In St. Wenceslas Church, Johann Sebastian Bach examined the new Hildebrandt organ in 1746. The young Friedrich Nietzsche also spent much of his childhood and youth in Naumburg.
